August 11, 2025 Cindy Labon, President of CAGDU

The American Council of the Blind of Virginia (ACBVA) invites you to attend our next program meeting on August 11 at 7:00 pm on Zoom.

Get ready for a lively and inspiring program! Our guest speaker is Cindy Labon, president of CAGDU (Capital Area Guide Dog Users). She’ll be joining us with her second guide dog, a charming black lab named Mr. Goodman.

Cindy and Mr. Goodman have tackled everything from conventions and cruises to the Polar Bear Swim! And if that’s not impressive enough, one of Mr. Goodman’s puppies has daughters who attended Harvard—and yes, he even spent a semester there himself!

Cindy will talk about whether a dog is right for you, What to do around a guide dog, what to say or not to say to the dog, etc. She will also discuss how to handle challenging situations that occur, with emphasis on some of the ride share issues guide dog owners encounter.

Don’t miss this engaging session filled with heartwarming stories, helpful insights, and a few laughs along the way. And be prepared to ask questions.
